Following a victorious battle, the valiant Macbeth, subject of King Duncan of Scotland, meets three witches who designate him as the Duke of Glamis (which he is), the Duke of Cawdor, and the future king. Shortly after, Macbeth is informed that the king, as a reward for his courage and devotion, is making him Duke of Cawdor.
Macbeth tells his wife of the strange encounter which will push him to assassinate the king to take his place, thus fulfilling the third prediction of the three witches.
